In this recently discovered album, Terris appears to have drawn inspiration from certain views of the Bouches-du-Rhône contained in Edouard Baldus’s 1861 album *Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée*. Terris was no stranger to Baldus’s work, as he had participated with a view of the Pavillon Richelieu at the Louvre in the first exhibition of the Marseille Photographic Society, which took place in 1861 at Terris’s premises. One might think, upon seeing certain images from this album published about ten years later, that Terris was familiar with the views of the coastline and the port of Marseille included in Baldus’s P.L.M. by Baldus. In the 1870s, the Cayol Brothers published numerous stereoscopic views on paper of Marseille and Provence, and in 1873 they produced, at the same time as Terris, a photo essay on the coastline of the Bouches-du-Rhône.
