TIBET, 18th-19th century Statue in repoussé and chased copper plate, representing a dancing Dakini, both legs bent and arms raised in a tribhanga ritual gesture. Head slightly raised to the sky, face with expressive features, half-closed eyes topped by thick eyelids, frowning eyebrows, half-open mouth with thin lips. The hair, treated in thick locks falling in flames down the back, is formed at the front of the skull by finely chiselled filigree volutes. The nude divinity is simply adorned with necklaces, bracelets, earrings (now missing) and anklets, some of which are embellished with cabochon stones. Resting on a quadrangular wooden base.
