CHINA, Qing Dynasty, 18th century A rare pair of bronze and cloisonné-glazed candlesticks, mounted on high domed bell-shaped feet, the shafts decorated with chased relief and patina motifs of Taotie masks and crowned Guanyin heads, the intermediate bowls in the form of six-petaled blossoming flowers treated in relief and overlapping one another, the straight picks. The legs, bowls and spikes are decorated with polychrome enamels on a turquoise background, featuring lotus scrolls.
