[INSTITUT DE FRANCE] Lot of 2 headed letters and vignette, 1811 and 1856 -Letterhead printed "Institut de France" class of French language and literature. The perpetual secretary, with a nice vignette finely engraved. Paris 1811 and signed by J. B. A. SUARD (recommendation of a colleague). Elected to the French Academy in 1774 and appointed by Louis XV censor of plays; writes in several newspapers. He wrote in several newspapers: " Le journal étranger " with the abbé ARNAUD, the abbé PRÉVÔT, and J.B. GERBIER. Then " the literary gazette of Europe and the gazette of France " from 1762. During the revolution he writes in the monarchical newspaper "des indépendants". During the Terror, he gives asylum to CONDORCET in his house of Fontenay aux roses. Under the Directory, he wrote in the royalist sheet "les nouvelles politiques", proscribed he took refuge abroad and returned to France after the 18 brumaire and became editor of the newspaper "le publiciste". In 1803 he was named perpetual secretary of the French Academy. Rare signature of this interesting character. -Letter on the letterhead "Institut de France Académie des Sciences Morales et Politiques", Paris 1856. "The perpetual secretary of the academy".
