Book of hours from mid-fifteenth century Paris (circa 1450/1460) in one in-12 volume (110 x 150 mm), brown morocco, wide gilded fanfare decoration on the boards, parts of clasps, ornate ribbed spine (early 16th c. binding). 7000/9000 FEATURES 171 vellum pages. 14 lines per page. Text in Latin (except for the calendar in French, and a few prayers at the end of the volume volume: ff. 147 to 155 and 158 v° to 159 r°), in black, red and blue ink (calendar). CONTENTS - ff. 1 to 12: calendar of saints (in French) ; - ff. 13 to 17: Gospel according to St. John and continuation of the Gospels according to St. Luke, St. Matthew and St. Mark Matthew and Mark; - ff. 18 to 25: prayers to God and the Blessed Virgin; - ff. 26 to 95 r°: psalms, hymns, primes, tierces, sextes, nones, etc..; - ff. 95 v° to 106: litany of saints, "Agnus Dei", "Kyrie" & other prayers; - ff. 107 to 146: prayers and orations to the Blessed Virgin; - ff. 147 to 155 v°: prayers in French; - ff. 156 to 164: various prayers. - ff. 165 to 171: Annunciation psalm. DEFAULTS Binding damaged; several leaves lacking (f.1 [first page of the calendar], between ff. 12 and 13, 25 and 26, 58 and 59, 79 and 80, 100 and 101, 146 and 147, 150 and 151, 161 and 162, and at the end); accidents and soiling on a few leaves. PROVENANCE: from the library of Louis Roger, parish priest at Pont-l'Évêque in 1750.
