Lampa-Karabagh carpet, Transcaucasia, 19th century Wool on wool. This rare piece, probably unique, has an eclectic decoration with various influences, as well as dimensions and a and chromatic palette. It features a frame in the European taste of the soap factory, near the Persian and Caucasian elements. This Western influence, and more particularly French, is illustrated by the presence of floral motifs, and dates back to a time when the were highly sought after and very expensive, including even in Russia. That's why they were imitated in this region of Karabagh from the end of the 18th century until the middle of the 19th century. The Persian influence is not in doubt either, through the presence of of 4 centuries-old Persian emblems "lion and sun", as well as of two "lion with sword". The rest of the representations are of type naturalistic type, with wild animals or familiar stylized very animals, as can be found in many Caucasian carpets and in particular those of Karabagh. Good condition for its age, despite repairs and wear. 200 x 300 cm
