SLAVES IN THE ISLE OF FRANCE Reunion of two printed pieces. - 1 Règlement du Conseil Supérieur de l'Isle de France, 1787: 2 pp. recto verso printed by the Imprimerie Royale in L'Isle de France (32.5 x 21 cm) including on the front a regulation in 5 articles. "The funds of commerce having until now no other destination than to pay the expenses of capture of the black maroons, the allowances granted to the masters of those which underwent condemnations with life or with tems, or which were condemned to death; it is essential to provide now for the expenditure which must result from the acquisition [...The food for the blacks on duty will be provided by the King's stores, at the rate of two pounds of mahis per day, per head of black". On the reverse side a weekly table of the slaves imprisoned and put in chains for police acts or at the request of their masters with names of the masters, names sex and castes of the slaves, convictions of police, date of imprisonments. Freckles, small lack of words in the text not preventing a good understanding of the text. - 1 Printed matter with the letterhead "Isle de France Hôpitaux du Roi" c.1785, with a summary table of the days of the black white patients in the King's hospitals.
